ASICS Ankle Bands
The ASICS Wrestling Ankle Bands are made to help referees, fans, and table workers keep track of which wrestler is scoring points in a match. Often, two teams will wear very similarly colored singlets, or singlets that are neither red or green. For this reason, each wrestler is assigned a color, red or green, at the beginning of the match, and the referee gives them coordinating ankle bands so points can be awarded correctly. This mainly applies to folkstyle wrestling because in freestyle or Greco the colors are assigned per each wrestler’s position on the bracket and they are required to wear either a red or blue singlet, which makes ankle bands redundant for that application. The ASICS ankle bands kit comes with two pairs of both red and green bands. You are free to divide them up however you like. At many larger tournaments, wrestlers wear one on each ankle so there’s no confusion. You can also economize and have one set per mat at your tournament. Unfortunately, one ankle band is sometimes too small for some of the upper weights, so you can also have them double up if you have an extra set. These ankle bands are as light as feathers, but made to last and use a PVC-free material that forms perfectly to your ankles for a secure fit. They are adjustable and held in place using a rugged Velcro. Sizing is standard “adult” size and this product is legal for all folkstyle competitions, such as dual meets and tournaments.
